Project: Healthy Meal

Team Members:  Elysa and Jonathan Dombro and Zachary Wright

4/23/15
Elysa:  I looked up videos of healthy Spring recipes.  I found some fun ideas like watermelon and feta cheese salad.  I'm not sure how the guys will feel about watermelon and cheese.  I also want to use some recipes with tomatoes but I'm worried that people in the class won't like tomatoes.

Jonathan:  Today I looked into a couple local smoothie recipes.  I wanted to do something with strawberries because they are local and delicious.  I'm not sure what other things will go into the smoothie to make it healthier.  Hopefully something with a little more substance.  I want to use bananas but they are not locally grown and I want to stick to local foods.

Zachary:  I wasn't sure what foods are really in season so I looked them up and now I have a better idea.  Also I wasn't sure what foods I could find locally but I discovered there and many different vegetables that are locally grown.  I also found out that a great place to buy vegetables is a farmer market.

Jonathan:  Today I googled more food recipes just to get a good idea of what I wanted to do.  Elysa and I agreed on a strawberry smoothie and decided on more of the ingredients.  We planned out a couple other dishes.  we want to do something with quinoa and something with kale.  i liked her watermelon salad idea.

Elysa:  The other day Jonathan and I agreed on some ideas.  He liked the idea of quinoa, it seemed like a cool alternative to pasta and rice.  Also it tastes really good and I eat it all the time.  We planned out what we pretty much what we want to be in it and the smoothie's ingredients.

4/28/15
Zachary:  Just heard about the others ideas and I like what they are doing with it.  I believe the watermelon salad will be good and the quinoa will be eaten by the class. i am going to start writing our posts and maybe look up some facts about the ingredients to get a better understanding about what we are creating.

Elysa:  We all decided that on the 30th we are going to plan out all our recipes exactly.  we are also going to start working on our presentation and nutritional facts.  Today we wrote the outline of what we are doing for the whole project.

4/30/15
Zachary:  Today we all got together to plan our recipes.  We have decided on 6 for the menu but we aren't sure which ones we are demonstrating.  Definitely the watermelon and the quinoa but not sure about the third recipe.  Elysa and I worked out all the ingredients while Jonathan started the presentation.

Jonathan:  Today we all met together to work on recipes.  I started the presentation, finding some of the nutrition facts is kind of hard but interesting.  We decided to buy ingredients and make the dishes on the 8th of May.

Elysa:  we all worked on recipes.  We finally planned out which ones we wanted to use.  I'm feeling pretty confident on our recipes and our presentation.  All we need to do is make and prepare everything.

Zachary:  Today I worked a little on the presentation.  Just a few slides and information.

Elysa:  I worked on the presentation today.  Only a couple of the slides, Jonathan is doing a lot of work on the presentation which is really helpful.  My mom is going to take me shopping to get some of our ingredients on the 7th.

Jonathan:  I finally finished the presentation, it was super hard.  We all know our parts and are pretty prepared.

Zachary:  We rehearsed our parts today.  Feeling confident!  We all worked on our timeline of the most important things we do.

Elysa:  Jonathan and my mom and I went to a couple of stores, to buy our ingredients.  We got some that aren't available any where else.  On Sunday we are going to go to the farmers market to fresh ingredients.

Jonathan:  Elysa and I bought ingredients and finished the budget statement.

5/8/15
Jonathan:  today we made everything in small amounts to test out the recipes.  Everything worked out pretty well.  There may be a few adjustments but hopefully not.  We are pretty much done.  We only need to prep which will be easy.

5/10/15
Elysa: Jonathan and I prepped some of the dishes like cooking the quinoa and gathering all the ingredients.  We also have knives and cutting boards for class demonstration. We packaged up all the food for tomorrow.
